Flush Casement Windows Stratford Upon Avon – Rural Timber Windows
October was a busy month for the Rural Timbers team, with one of our projects to replace the existing uPVC windows and doors of a detached home in the medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon. The owner of the 1920’s house was keen on restoring the property so that it would resemble its original appearance, whilst still maintaining high levels of energy efficiency.
We carefully removed the existing uPVC windows and doors before replacing them with beautifully crafted flush casement windows. The new windows operate by using openers which close directly into the frame. These then finish flush with the face of the window, giving very clean and simple lines, which complement the key features of the house.
Hand crafted Georgian glazing bars also helped to emphasise the period style windows, creating an aesthetically pleasing finish to the overall look of the house. The timber frames were coated with Farrow & Ball’s Pointing paint, a popular shade of off-white which has a light yet warm undertone, making a great alternative to the stark finish of the commonly used bright white gloss. The client chose classic Chrome Peardrop handles for the windows, in keeping with the traditional feel of the property.
Although the appearance of flush casement windows is very traditional, the performance of these window units is highly contemporary. Double glazed panes help to keep the warm air inside and the cold air out, rendering the windows energy efficient and on a par with more modern styles.
They are also extremely secure, and intruders will have a difficult time trying to break through the strong glass and the well-constructed timber frames.
We’re pleased to report that the client was delighted with the result, and expressed their surprise in that the windows and doors complemented the house so well – the bespoke design fitted the property perfectly!
